The combination of climate change and urban development is creating a crisis for the green spaces in our cities. For the wellbeing of people and communities we urgently need to act now by enabling local groups across London to protect and enhance their local parks and green and blue spaces.

As London grows, with higher demands for housing and urban development, many of the green and blue spaces that people depend on for their wellbeing are at risk. The changing climate increasingly challenges city life with high temperatures and extreme events such as flooding. For London to be a sustainable and healthy city with accessible and inclusive open spaces for people to enjoy, we urgently need to protect and enhance local natural environments and green spaces as the city develops.

We protect London’s green spaces and encourage sustainable development, by supporting and enabling local communities to conserve and enhance their local parks and playing fields. By engaging a huge and diverse range of people and communities to enjoy nature in the city's green/blue spaces, by helping local people plant trees and hedges, greening London streets, and by creating rain gardens to cool the city and mitigate flooding, we can make London a greener, healthier, and more sustainable city.
