1 in 11 disadvantaged children in the UK don’t own a book, limiting their chances to succeed. This Christmas, our campaign aims to deliver over 21,000 books to children in twelve disadvantaged communities, giving them the tools to improve literacy, build confidence, and inspire brighter futures.

Many disadvantaged children in the UK face the reality of missing out on Christmas gifts, including something as simple as a book of their own book. However this isn't just about presents, its about opportunity. Nearly half of children in the UK leave primary school struggling to read, and poor literacy skills severely limit their chances of success in education and later life.

Research shows that children who own books are six times more likely to read above their expected level. We’ll deliver over 21,000 books to children in twelve of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities, working with schools to reach those who’ll benefit most. Beyond Christmas, our Place Programme supports these schools year-round with literacy, wellbeing, food access, and career opportunities.
