After the loss of her husband Chris in 2020, Mandy found herself navigating life as a single parent to her two children, Logan and Erin. Both children are autistic, with Logan also having a prosthetic leg. Mandy faces significant health challenges herself, including fibromyalgia, a prolapsed disc, and NEAD (non-epileptic attack disorder), which can cause debilitating episodes during stress. The family had grown apart, each retreating to their own space at home.

Their holiday to Torquay was a turning point, and it changed the dynamics of the family for the better. The time away helped them learn to sit and communicate. Inspired, they now go on camping trips together. Logan is at university and Erin is working at a local safari park as well as volunteering. The holiday made them realise that losing Chris meant that they needed to gel more as a family, to get back to the way they used to be and they were the only ones that could make that happen.
