Many Irish people in Britain have poor mental health, from poverty, isolation and past trauma - often linked to institutional abuse experienced in childhood. Stigma about mental health and a lack of culturally aware services often stop people (particularly men, and older people) from seeking help.
icap will deliver free (or very low-cost) therapy through new Irish Mental Health Hubs in trusted community venues. icap’s culturally informed therapy Hubs will provide 1:2:1 counselling, group therapy and peer support groups - helping to address the poor rates of mental health among Irish immigrant people.
