Our prisons are in crisis. There are record numbers of people behind bars. Inspectors regularly report instances of vermin, violence, self-harm and people languishing in cells with nothing to do. Too many people are released with no home, no job, no family, and no hope. Annually, over 80,000 families & 200,000 children and young people are affected by imprisonment. The impact can be lifelong & is classed as an “adverse childhood experience”.
Our services offer hope & support to prisoners, their children & families, and which reduce the harm caused. We believe in the power of relationships & the importance of redemption & rehabilitation. We work across criminal justice, child and family welfare, mental health services, and health and social care. We provide advice and information, reduce poverty and sickness, and offer education and training opportunities for prisoners, prison leavers, their families and their children.
