Winter can be a season of struggle, for both wildlife and people. As natural food sources vanish and habitats shrink, animals face a fight for survival made worse by climate change and pollution. At the same time, many people feel lonelier and less well in the dark winter months. By protecting nature and creating spaces and opportunities for people to connect with it, we can help wildlife survive the winter, whilst helping people be more active and feel better.
We will help winter wildlife, focusing on vulnerable species, by managing and restoring their vital habitats. With community groups and our health and wellbeing partners in Gwent, we will create ways for people to enjoy and take action for nature and connect with the wild around them. Together, we can boost biodiversity, build climate resilience, and support mental wellbeing - bringing hope to both people and wildlife when it's needed most.
