To ensure the safe storage of the very large volumes of candles used in Westminster Cathedral, the Friends of Westminster Cathedral are supporting the building of an external candle store.

Westminster Cathedral use very large volumes of candles each year. Mainly supplied as votive candles to visitors to the Cathedral but also for liturgical use. These candles are currently stored in crypt storage below the Cathedral and they are now considered to pose a possible fire risk.
We want to fund the construction of a new brick built external candle store on the South side of the Cathedral. There is space available and other building such as a toilet block have been added so covered access to the Cathedral can easily be arranged.
