This project will help refugees across the UK build the English language skills they need to enter employment. By funding access to tuition, exam support and one-to-one guidance, it will remove a key barrier to employment, unlocking confidence, opportunity, and the chance to find meaningful work.

Refugees face an unemployment rate over four times higher than the UK average. They often experience CV gaps from lengthy asylum processes, lack knowledge of the UK job market, have unrecognised qualifications – and face barriers to accessing English language support. Cuts to ESOL funding, long waiting lists, and digital exclusion mean many are unable to access the support they need, meaning even highly qualified refugees struggle to secure jobs matching their skills.

Our English language programme gives refugees the support they need to learn English and move toward meaningful employment. We offer access to free, tailored tuition through over 160 partners, cover exam fees, and provide dedicated caseworker support. As well as building the confidence refugees need to thrive, our English language programme connects directly to future employment pathways, unlocking access to job and training opportunities, and the chance to build new lives.
