Every year, millions of tonnes of perfectly good food are wasted by the food industry. At FareShare Sussex & Surrey, we rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and redistribute it to frontline community organisations - from food banks to women’s refuges, youth clubs to homeless shelters - so they can support people facing hunger. It’s a sustainable, ethical, and deeply human response to two broken systems: one that throws food away, and one that leaves people behind.

By working with over 248 local charities, we redistribute surplus food - in-date, fresh, and nutritious - to where it’s needed most. Food that would otherwise go to waste is turned into warm meals in community kitchens; food parcels for struggling families; and emergency support for people in crisis. Every tray we pack and van we send out puts food on plates this Christmas.
