Each year, around 22,050 women and people with gynaecological organs in the UK are diagnosed with one of the five gynaecological cancers. Around 7,500 of these women are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and less than 45% of these will survive beyond five years.

In the UK gynaecological cancers receive less than 5% of cancer research funding. This is despite gynaecological cancers making up around 12% of all diagnoses, and 10% of cancer deaths amongst females in England. Ovarian Cancer in particular is very difficult to diagnose early, and survival rates are low. Treatments will also often likely trigger menopause for those that have not yet been through it.

To find the money that needs to be invested into research for gynaecological cancers , as well as raising awareness of the current lack of money that goes into research for these cancers proportional to their impact. Research we are currently funding is helping doctors find easier ways to diagnose, to personalise treatment and even create vaccines. With you support Wellbeing of Women can fund even more research that will save lives.
