Funding will enable us to offer therapeutic support, practical help and community for 150 + refugees and asylum seekers so they can rebuild their lives. We provide trauma-informed therapy, specialist casework, community activities and destitution support to restore life’s meaning and purpose.

Around ⅓ of asylum seekers have experienced torture: as a result of this violent, traumatic experience, they suffer from very poor mental, emotional, and physical health. Their experiences in the UK only compound this: they are destitute, in substandard accommodation, and as a result of the asylum system’s ‘culture of disbelief’ are threatened with indefinite detention and deportation. Holistic support, grounded in therapeutic approaches, is critical to helping our community rebuild their lives.
We provide long-term group therapy so that survivors can heal from traumatic experiences, give and receive peer support, and build safe relationships. Our caseworkers help survivors to overcome practical challenges, including with housing, welfare, healthcare and legal support; navigating the asylum system; and accessing education, training and employment. Our weekly community meal, garden sessions and activities like trips offer a space for members to connect, support and heal together.
