We aim to plant 3,200 trees in southeast Madagascar for carbon offsetting, community use, and agroforestry. 15,840 crops will grow in the agroforestry sites, providing 53,000 vegetable portions to schoolchildren. Support this holistic, long-term response to food security and climate change.

In the Anosy Region of southeast Madagascar, unsustainable agriculture practices are closely tied to a web of interconnected challenges, including food insecurity, declining soil health, climate vulnerability, and rapid deforestation. Climate change is exacerbating these challenges with increasingly erratic, unpredictable weather. Working with local communities to promote climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable resources use is key to improving food security and preserving local forests.
SEED will establish two agroforestry sites at SEED-built schools in close collaboration with the communities involved, planting 600 trees alongside 15,840 diverse crops. Harvests from these sites will provide 53,000 portions of vegetables to the schoolchildren. Additionally, SEED will plant 1,300 Moringa oleifera (Moringa) trees on community-owned land to offset carbon emissions from the construction of four new schools, plus an additional 1,300 community-selected trees for local resource use.
