Fine Cell Work empowers prisoners to rebuild their lives and non-criminal identities. We use needlework in our rehabilitative initiatives to help people in prison realise their potential and give them hope for a better future. We have helped more than 8500 people since 1997.

Challenges resulting from prison capacity issues are having an impact on prison and probation. There is enough compelling evidence showing that every person who embarks on a successful rehabilitation process reduces the rates of violence and crime in society. However, rehabilitation and training opportunities to enable prisoners to live crime-free on release have shrunk drastically. To reduce crime and have safer communities, we need to reduce the number of people reoffending.
We train people in prison to be highly competent craftspeople through bespoke, individual teaching. We do this by sending experienced, talented volunteers into prisons across the UK to teach prisoners needlework skills. Our evidenced-based solution of meaningful employment, therapeutic craft, and development of emotional and financial resilience has never been more crucial. There are no other charities providing paid, professional, high-quality craft opportunities to people in prison.
