Homelessness is a damaging experience and for those rough sleeping, particularly in winter, a lack of shelter, safety and sustenance can lead to poor mental and physical health or even death. Without rapid intervention, the likelihood of becoming trapped in the cycle of street homelessness increases exponentially. Over 300 vulnerable people come to the Haven each year and up to 64 people each month receive care and support. In a typical month, 14 people have never needed our support before.

The Haven exists so that there is somewhere safe and welcoming, where basic needs for food, hygiene and warmth are met while receiving support to help people escape the dangers and challenges of homelessness. A nutritious, satisfying meal is prepared each day for those who come to us while the afternoon sees one-to-one meetings in which people share their experiences and needs, and the team work with them to secure housing locally or to make connections to safe accommodation further afield.
