Nine babies die suddenly and unexpectedly in England and Wales each week, devastating the families affected. Our work has helped to save over 30,000 lives since 1991 but we won’t stop until no baby dies suddenly or unexpectedly. The reduction in SIDS rates in recent years shows that baby safety advice is essential. Our advice can save babies’ lives but only when it reaches families - we need to ensure that everyone involved in the care of a baby has access to this.

We will save more babies’ lives by empowering families and professionals with trusted baby safety advice, backed by research. This will be shared online, via our publications and through training. To ensure the biggest reductions as soon as possible, we will target areas of deprivation, where the risk is greatest. And, if a family experiences the death of a baby, we are with them in grief. We will provide bereavement support, side-by-side, for as long as they need us.
