Chronically Creative is a creative arts and wellbeing project for people living with Long Covid and other long term health conditions, run by participatory theatre company Spare Tyre. It is held online for people who are shielding or whose conditions mean they find it difficult to leave the house.

60,000 people in the UK are living with Long Covid. For them, and for people living with other long-term conditions, the pandemic is not over. In many cases online interaction is their real life, their main source of social and cultural contact with people who are not their carers. University of Bath research found “persistent, negative differences in health, finances... and life satisfaction” among immuno-compromised people, and higher rates of diagnosis of mental health conditions.
Chronically Creative sessions are held online, delivered by artistic practitioners with lived experience of disability. The format includes breathing, arts activities, companionship, and connection. Our practice is flexible and agile: every session is responsive to the needs of whoever is in the ‘room’. We offer a non-judgmental meeting space with other people who ‘get it’ to share their lived experience, away from health talk and advice and focusing on connection with others and creativity.
