People with life-limiting illnesses and their carers often lack palliative care during evenings and weekends, leading to unwanted hospital admissions or coping alone. With your support, we can extend our admissions hours to ensure our specialist care is available when it is needed most.

Evenings and weekends make up over 75% of the week, yet people with life-limiting illnesses and their carers often can’t access essential palliative care support during these times. Sudden health deteriorations can happen at any moment, leaving families relying on emergency hospital care or to cope alone while their loved one suffers unnecessarily. When hospice transfers are delayed, people are denied the specialist care and comfort we can provide, particularly in their final moments.

We’re committed to changing this reality. With your support, we can ensure people with life-limiting illnesses and their carers can access specialist palliative care out of hours. Building on our 24/7 advice line, funded by last year’s Big Give supporters, we aim to extend our Inpatient Unit admissions to seven days a week. This will help to reduce unwanted emergency hospital visits, ease stress for carers and help more people reach their preferred place of care.
