People with a learning disability and/or autistic people are significantly more likely to experience homelessness, with studies showing the prevalence of autism among homeless people is 9 times(!) higher than among the general population (18% vs 2%). We have over 50 people with a learning disability and/or autism on our housing waiting list and properties available to us but they urgently need refurbishments and adaptations to make them safe and appropriate for people's support and care needs.
With your support we can invest in properties available to us, refurbishing & making adaptations to meet the unique needs of tenants with a learning disability and/or autistic people including improving access, installing accessible kitchens & bathrooms, creating calm & sensory living spaces, and installing assistive tech so people can be more independent. We can increase tenancy support, helping people settle into their homes & communities, giving them the confidence & opportunity to thrive.
