Safehaven is our way of opening wide the doors of St Peter's church to those who are often on the margins of society, those who are navigating some of the harder realities of life in our city and inviting them into a community of hope, love and belonging.

Brighton has the third highest rate of homelessness in the UK, with many individuals either sleeping rough or living in temporary, unstable accommodation. This often leads to deep loneliness, social isolation, and serious impacts on both mental and physical health. A sense of belonging is essential to wellbeing—and never more so than at Christmas, when the absence of connection and community is felt most acutely.
Safehaven welcomes around 150 individuals each week through our Saturday Night Meal, Men’s Drop-in, and Women’s Drop-ins. These gatherings offer more than just practical support—they provide a safe, consistent space where people can feel seen, valued, and part of a caring community. Whether sharing a meal, having a conversation, or trying something new, guests are met with kindness and respect. With the help of specialist partners, we also offer access to wider support—all from one trusted, familiar place. At Christmas, when feelings of isolation can be especially painful, we offer festive meals, thoughtful gifts, and hampers for hostels across the city—bringing comfort, dignity, and a reminder that no one is forgotten.
