Woodlands are vital for wildlife and for people - but they’re under threat. Trench Wood is one of Worcestershire’s most important ancient woodlands, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), rich in biodiversity. Yet like many others, it faces growing pressure from habitat loss, fragmentation and climate change. Its location within a largely agricultural landscape limits natural connectivity, putting rare species and vulnerable habitats at risk.

Purchasing additional land next to Trench Wood will allow us to expand and buffer this nationally important nature reserve, doubling its size and creating Worcestershire Wildlife Trust’s largest woodland reserve. Restoration efforts, including planting native trees, meadow restoration and the creation of new habitats will boost the biodiversity and resilience of the woodland, strengthening its connectivity with the wider landscape and protecting it for wildlife and future generations.
