With almost 20,000 asylum claims pending in Cyprus, displaced people face destitution, isolation and racism as they wait in limbo for the most basic rights. Arrivals continue steadily, but both state and NGO support are limited. Newcomers, including families, are left without access to food, hygiene or basic dignity. These conditions place immense strain on people’s wellbeing, deepen vulnerability and marginalisation, and create lasting barriers to stability, inclusion and independence.
We offer people seeking asylum a sense of agency, stability and hope. At our Dignity Centre in Nicosia, people can choose food and hygiene items just like a normal shopping experience. The Centre also offers a calm, welcoming space to connect with community and access practical support such as administrative assistance, CV writing and a weekly barber service. Our unique, person-centred model provides relief at a time of urgent need, while supporting people to take the next steps with dignity.
