Domestic Abuse and demand for our services is increasing & this primarily affects women & girls, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 girls - although some young males are affected too. DA has a significant impact mentally & physically and damages educational attainment and employment. It means young people are easily exploited and drawn into gangs and exploitative relationships, further adding to pressures on abused mothers. Exploitation and abuse includes poverty & financial abuse & coercive control.

We will increase the resources in our outreach team by 25 hrs p wk & launch a dedicated teens project to support especially girls dealing with DA at risk of exploitation or offending, & their mothers. Using trauma informed approaches, we'll work with local partners, inc local authority & police & other charities/agencies, to provide tailored support on a wraparound model. We will also work preventatively on schools and across the community to identify those most at risk and to raise awareness.
