We use the medium of opera to inspire and empower people affected by homelessness, offering a space where their ideas, creativity and potential can be valued and providing a platform where their artistic work, made alongside world class professionals, can be shared with the world.

Homelessness is rising, with 1 in 160 people in England now without a home (Shelter, Dec 2024). Nearly 4,000 sleep rough each night, and 326,000 live in temporary accommodation. It’s a traumatic, isolating experience. Singing and opera help people find confidence, reconnect with others, and rediscover a sense of identity and belonging. “It made me believe in myself as a person. I'm doing things I wouldn't normally do... I usually hide away.”

From weekly workshops in arts venues to drop-in sessions at homelessness shelters, we work with world-class artists to facilitate creative activities for people experiencing homelessness, including making new operatic work and performing it in thrilling venues alongside professional artists and ensembles. Our year-round performing arts programme provides a safe space for people affected by homelessness to leave their troubles at the door and find their voices as artists.
