You can help Oxfordshire’s wildlife survive and thrive this winter. Together, we can care for green spaces and the habitats that creatures depend on. From hedgerows to nest in to woodlands that provide food and shelter, we’ll nurture vital habitats to protect wildlife through the toughest season.

Wildlife in Oxfordshire is under threat. Insect numbers have plummeted, butterfly counts have halved, and habitats face growing pressure from climate change, development and human activity. Earth Trust’s 500-hectare landscape and 7 community nature reserves are home to important protected species like great crested newts, barbastelle bats, otters and water voles. Without active winter management, we risk losing the food, shelter and conditions that struggling species need to survive and thrive.
With your help this winter, we’ll restore and protect vital habitats across our diverse woodlands, wetlands, meadows and farmland. Our rangers and volunteers will plant trees, coppice woodland, restore hedgerows and build deadwood shelters — creating safe places for wildlife to feed, nest and hibernate. With biodiversity in alarming decline, every additional tree or log pile makes a difference. By preparing now, we’re setting the stage for a vibrant, living landscape in the seasons ahead.
