All children and young people have a right to access arts and culture (UN & UNESCO). The benefits of music on the wellbeing of young people are clear. Yet recent UK reports reveal a long-term dismantling of infrastructure that supports youth access to arts (Cultural Alliance) and the decline in extracurricular arts opportunities, especially for state school students (The Education Policy Institute). National Youth Choir seeks to provide accessible opportunities for everyone.
With the support of donors, National Youth Choir will equip young people, who may otherwise miss out, with access to high-quality music provision. We will expand our SING! project to an additional region in England to broaden access to free extracurricular music activities for young people aged 9 to 15 in state schools. We will also provide financial assistance towards course fees and travel expenses for 35 financially disadvantaged choir members.
