We provide safe water, sanitation and hygiene education (WASH), transforming the lives of people living in rural Zambia and Mozambique. Working with local partners, climate-resilient WASH leads to dramatically better health, improved school attendance and greater social and economic opportunities.

Safe water, proper toilets and hygiene are basic human rights. More than half of people in rural Zambia and Mozambique live without them, dramatically increasing the threat of waterborne diseases, particularly diarrhoea, dysentery and cholera. Children are disproportionately affected; if left untreated cholera can kill within hours. Climate change is exacerbating the problem through the spread of contaminated water sources. Safe water and sanitation education safeguard health and wellbeing.

Our District Wide Plan delivers a long-term and sustainable solution through partnering with stakeholders, community leaders and councils. We map which services need strengthening, priorities in reaching them and where investment and training is needed, avoiding duplication of services. Our goal is 100% WASH coverage in three districts by 2030, ensuring every school, village and health centre has access to safe water, along with hygiene and sanitation knowledge to instil healthy long term habits
