Domestic abuse remains a pervasive and escalating crisis across the UK, with Hull experiencing some of the highest rates nationally. In 2023/24 Hull recorded 36.1 domestic abuse related incidents per 1000 people, surpassing the national average of 27.1. It is estimated that 2.3 million people aged 16+ experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2024. Despite these figures, fewer than 1 in 60 victims saw their abuser convicted, highlighting systemic challenges in addressing the issue.

At Hull Women’s Aid, we recognise the deep and lasting impact domestic abuse has on survivors. We provide more than just safe refuge - we offer trauma-informed support tailored to the needs of each woman and child. Through practical help, emotional care, and a compassionate environment, we work alongside survivors to rebuild their lives. With the support of our community, we are breaking the cycle of abuse and empowering those affected to move forward with the freedom to live without fear.
