Access to abortion care is a fundamental human right, but across Europe, millions of people can’t access care. ASN helps those people access a safe abortion by funding the costs of travelling to a clinic overseas – and we need your support to help as many people as we can.

Abortion is a common, safe healthcare procedure, but many in Europe are still denied access by restrictive laws and poor provision. We help people book abortions in other countries, and pay for the costs if needed. In 2024 we heard from 1008 people: a third of them needed financial support. The financial burden lies with the abortion-seeker. Abortion procedures can cost thousands, and many have to cover travel and accommodation costs too. For some, that means they can’t have an abortion at all.
We run a helpline offering advice and funding to people who need to travel for an abortion. Some people simply need information – but for some, our grants are the only way they can afford the care they need. In 2024 our average grant was £924 and we funded 303 people’s abortions – people who, without our help, would have been forced to continue their pregnancies or seek funding from riskier sources. With this funding, we can ensure we cover grants for at least another 30 people.
