Young Carers juggle learning, development and well-being while providing essential care at home, risking loneliness, declining health and hardship. Many miss out on breaks and in winter, isolation, stress and wellbeing worsen. 80% say that caring affects their mental health; 62% that they rarely or never get respite; and 54% face poverty. Over time, unrelieved caring severely impacts health, confidence and future opportunities. “It’s harder than anyone understands, I feel like I’m drowning.”

Our project offers a lifeline, giving Young Adult Carers in hardship a unique break from daily pressures with life-changing respite. This winter we’ll run a 5-day skiing residential at Glenshee for 10, followed by a 5-day yachting trip on Scotland’s west coast for 10, teaching skills and building confidence, resilience and lasting friendships. Respite and nature are proven to help Young Carers recover and return home stronger, with memories, new skills, friends and hope, allowing them to thrive.
