The UK is home to 5.5 million South Asians, yet many elders’ hold rich, untold stories, that are at risk of being lost forever. Without capturing and preserving these voices, images, and artefacts, young people miss vital links to their heritage. Our project captures these lived experiences of migration to the UK, helping communities, children, and youth connect, learn, and feel pride in their identity, ensuring South Asian heritage is preserved and celebrated as a vital part of British society.

South Asian Heritage Trust tackles generational disconnect by celebrating South Asian Heritage Month for the past 5 years, raising national awareness. We build school assembly toolkits, host Talking Circles and “Chat, Chai & Samosas” sessions, and capture elders' stories and images through oral storytelling, comedy, and culinary tales. By sharing how older generations arrived and contributed to British society, we help children & young people understand, connect, & take pride in their heritage.
