We are working together with our Ugandan partner, the Organisation for Community Action (OCA) in the Lira District of Northern Uganda, to launch an inspiring new initiative - the establishment of a vocational training centre designed to empower disadvantaged young women.

In Northern Uganda, many young women leave school during their secondary education years. Traditional academic programmes often don’t match their interests or future prospects and hands-on vocational training options are limited. Through this project, OCA aims to build on its efforts to inspire rural families to educate young women by creating new opportunities for practical skills development.

We will empower young women by providing valuable vocational skills in tailoring, garment design, and sewing machine maintenance. As a result, they will be able to earn a sustainable income, support their families, and strengthen their household financial security. To ensure that training opportunities are accessible to all, the project will offer financial support in the form of training bursaries, allowing women from the most deprived backgrounds to participate.
