The Campaign for the Arts believes that a healthy society is one in which the arts and culture are shared, made and treasured by all citizens. But the arts and culture are insufficiently valued, supported and accessible in the UK. Our recent STATE OF THE ARTS report with the University of Warwick, and other research we have conducted since, underlines the scale and urgency of the threats they face.
Culture must be one of the central pillars of society, alongside health, education, welfare, and infrastructure – not a luxury, but a necessity. We exist to help bring this about through our tried-and-tested combination of research, advocacy and public engagement. Together, we can move closer towards a society in which the benefits of the arts and culture are valued and available to all, and everyone’s creative potential is unlocked.
