Blesma supports 2,640+ limbless veterans & their widow(er)s, who are getting older and have ever-changing needs. Many live in housing that does not meet their needs as amputees/wheelchair users. They struggle to live independently at home. Multi-storey buildings, steps, stairs cause insurmountable challenges, making personal care & hygiene impossible without help. Limbless veterans require financial/practical support to make crucial home adaptations – or face long-term loneliness and isolation.
Your donation will help limbless/injured veterans UK-wide to fund essential home & garden adaptations: purpose-built ramps, widened door frame, wet-rooms, downstairs bedrooms, built-in rails, paving etc. These crucial changes will improve accessibility; increase confidence and independence. Ongoing support provided by Blesma Officers to ensure on-going needs are met. Work will be done in partnership with Councils, building companies & regulatory agencies to ensure health/safety & security.
