Each year in the UK, around 2,300 children are diagnosed with cancer. A cancer diagnosis remains an incredibly difficult experience for the child and the entire family. There are devastating effects including lost school days due to grueling treatment, isolation, mental wellbeing, and a lack of interaction with peers. The pressure of being a young person is difficult enough, and many young patients as well as their families find this new reality totally overwhelming.
We offer a range of cancer care solutions: including technologically-powered initiatives, such as AV1 No Isolation Robots to help reconnect children virtually back to school, a Holiday Home on the Isle of Wight for families to enjoy some respite and 'normal time', transportation for oncology families to appointments, meet the needs of medical oncology ward wish-lists, run regular childhood cancer support groups, and support families experiencing financial hardship.
