Many children face significant barriers to accessing quality music education, limiting opportunities for creative and personal growth. A History of Sound helps change this by bringing inspiring, hands-on workshops directly into schools. We empower young people through music, nurturing confidence, creativity, and a sense of possibility. With school budgets under increasing pressure, and only 15% of state school students receiving sustained music tuition, our work has never been more important.

We deliver free 90-minute sessions, comprising a show and hands-on workshop, where 4 Agents of S.O.U.N.D. help 30 children (many for the first time) discover music’s power to build confidence, expression, and new skills. Our SEND adaptation co-created with special school learners and teachers at Heritage House has been praised as “most impactful visiting group we have ever had.” Every child deserves the chance to explore music—because it doesn’t just support learning, it unlocks possibility.
