Human-bat conflict puts both people and bats at risk, which is why one of our key work areas is people engagement. We strongly believe that sustainable long-term conservation can only be achieved if communities are included in the decision-making process. Lack of access to inspiring environmental education programmes limits young people’s understanding of nature, their role within it, and their ability to lead solutions.
This project aims to use an inclusive, and participatory approach to working with young people across southern Africa. We will scale CwW through a Train the Trainer initiative – offering both in-person and online training opportunities and resources for youth engagement. CwW is designed to strengthen young people’s skills, strengthen their confidence and nurture environmental stewardship, promote wellbeing and positive perceptions of nature and conservation action in their communities.
