People with a learning disability and autism face many barriers, including limited access to education and job opportunities, social isolation, and stigma. Only 5.1% of people with LD are employed (NHS Digital, 2023), and 1 in 3 report loneliness (Mencap, 2022). Autistic people are 4 times more likely to feel lonely (BBC, 2023). This creates a reduced quality of life, making it harder to participate fully in society and increasing burnout among parents and carers who are unable to take a break.
LinkAble reduces isolation for people with a learning disability and autistic people by offering accessible activities and experiences that build skills, confidence, and meaningful friendships. Through social groups, creative sessions, fitness classes, and life skills workshops, individuals connect and learn with others in a safe, supportive space. These services strengthen family dynamics by giving exhausted parents and carers a vital chance to take a break and focus on the rest of their family
