Wirral Mencap supports local adults with learning disabilities and their families and carers. This campaign will enable us to continue providing our social clubs. These provide a safe space for the people we support to improve confidence and independence, whilst socialising regularly.

The problems faced by adults with learning disabilities are multi-faceted. They include: social isolation / exclusion; poor access to adult skills development; poor access to appropriate support and information; and a lack of confidence and independence. These problems create a barrier for adults with learning disabilities to lead an enriched and fulfilled life.
Wirral Mencap's social clubs encourage socialisation, healthy relationships, and community engagement. At our weekly evening club (Crossbow), we regularly have activities from taekwondo to flower arranging, to encourage skills development and exploration of new hobbies. Our social clubs are often the primary contact point for the organisation. They are an opportunity to refer to appropriate support. Through participation in the clubs, we see increased confidence and independence in attendees.
