Schools are struggling to meet the growing and diverse needs of young people, with additional statutory pressures and reduced budgets. More young people than ever are slipping through the net for support and have completely disengaged from learning. Without support this may lead to crisis.

The need for child mental health support in the UK has never been greater. Around 1/5 children (equivalent to 20% of all classrooms) are estimated to have a mental health condition. Across Oxon and Buckinghamshire nearly 40,000 young people are missing from school. Schools are overwhelmed and often don’t have the resources or training to properly identify and support these children. Waiting lists for specialist services, like Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) are up to 4 years.

In partnership with local communities and individuals, we have developed a School Partnership Programme designed to improve whole-school outcomes which benefit not only the school itself but the wider community, targeting those who need our support most. The model implements therapeutic interventions, getting to core and complex challenges, to enable sustainable change e.g. improving attendance, increasing levels of attainment, increasing engagement and improving wellbeing, across a year.
