This Christmas WasteAid needs your help to build a waste-free world. By working with vulnerable communities on the frontline of the waste crisis, we support better waste management and recycling programmes in low-income countries that need them most – creating positive change together!

More than 330 million tonnes of new plastic are produced every year and 90% of that is not recycled. Dumped plastic chokes marine wildlife, leaches into the soil, poisons groundwater, and is linked to many serious health problems - over 9 million people a year die due to diseases linked to the mismanagement of waste. Plastic pollution is closely tied to inequality as it is in the poorest countries where plastic waste is most likely to be dumped, burned and harm the environment and communities.
WasteAid creates pioneering projects in countries with little or no waste management infrastructure. We work with communities and individuals to build affordable, appropriate solutions to the problem of plastic waste. Our solutions are based upon a model of tackling waste as a source of income – helping people build green businesses through reusing and recycling plastic waste. This provides a double benefit: tackling plastic waste directly and supporting economic growth in poor regions.
