For over 20 years we've sponsored children in Kimilili, Kenya, through their education, easing the burden on needy families. We aim to create a bursary fund to cover fees for children without sponsors, helping them stay in school and improving their chances of progressing to higher education.

Primary and secondary education in Kenya is free in principle, but 'hidden' costs hold many children back—especially in rural areas such as Kimilili where the majority of people are subsistence farmers living on less than $1.50 a day. Overcrowded classrooms, underqualified teachers, and fees for essentials such as books and uniforms deny many a fair start. Higher education is even less accessible, with tuition fees far beyond the reach of disadvantaged families.

Our school in Kimilili, Dreamland Education Centre (DEC), is consistently in the top 5 schools in Bungoma County. Through a new bursary fund, we will cover education costs for families without the means: school fees, uniforms, transport, accommodation and resources. This will ensure that children can stay in school, receive a quality education, and have a real chance of progressing to higher education and securing meaningful employment—breaking the cycle of poverty for them and their families.
