Communities in the drylands of Africa rely on local landscapes for food and income. But the climate crisis is causing a loss of fertile soil and natural resources, reducing livelihood opportunities. Tree Aid supports people and the planet to build climate resilience by growing and protecting trees.

Across the drylands of Africa, rural communities experience the effects of climate change every day. Once fertile land is being lost to the encroaching desert and erratic weather, such as flooding and droughts, are threatening agricultural livelihoods. This makes it harder for families to grow crops to eat and sell, exacerbating poverty. Urgent action is needed to restore degraded land and create sustainable economic opportunities so that communities and landscapes can thrive together.

Tree Aid joins forces with communities to tackle the effects of poverty and the climate crisis using the power of trees. But we don’t just plant trees and walk away - our projects create lasting solutions. Securing fair forest access ensures the benefits of trees can be harnessed by those who need them most. Trees build climate resilience by restoring soil health, improving crop yields for farmers. Their fruits, nuts, and seeds provide nutritious food and even a source of sustainable income.
