We are seeing a growing trend in the number of families experiencing entrenched and multiple needs being referred for our support. Social isolation and mental health continue to be the main reasons for support. Our geographical area of coverage is predominately rural and families often don’t have a network of support. This is often coupled with other needs including the cost of living, domestic abuse, disability, depression, poverty or difficulties in managing children’s behaviour.

Volunteers with parenting experience are recruited from the community and deliver practical and emotional support to local families through consistent positive support which empowers parents to embrace opportunities including helping them to engage with and integrate into their local community. Volunteers’ home visits are the core of the work and this long term home-visiting service is unique to Home-Start. In addition families can attend weekly Family Groups which are based in East Hampshire.
