We strive to transform the futures of children aged 5-8 who are facing disadvantage by breaking the cycle of educational inequality. We provide weekly 1:1 reading sessions, empowering children to develop vital literacy skills and spark a love of reading, so they can thrive in education and in life.

In 2024, 38% of disadvantaged 11-year-olds in England couldn’t read at the expected standard, impeding their potential and future prospects. The attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers only widens throughout education. Children falling behind aged 5 face lifelong challenges including health inequalities and reduced social mobility. Finding joy in reading is crucial; multiple studies indicate that reading motivation and enjoyment are positively correlated with reading ability.

Our Online Reading Volunteers Programme pairs corporate volunteers with children aged 5-8 for weekly 30-minute sessions across the school year. With stories and games on our platform, volunteers nurture literacy skills, ignite a love for reading, motivate learning and raise aspirations. Research shows reading enjoyment strengthens reading ability. Fostering both skills and passion empowers children to unlock a world of imagination and potential, transforming futures through the power of reading.
