Every 15 minutes a child goes into care. They face life-altering decisions, about where they live, who cares for them, and how they are protected. Living in care homes, foster care, in vulnerable family situations or navigating complex legal systems. Too often, their voices go unheard. When they leave care they face homelessness, unemployment and mental health challenges without adequate support. These children have hopes and dreams too. They deserve to be safe, heard and loved.
NYAS empowers children through independent advocacy, legal representation and mentoring support. We ensure their voices are heard in care, in family courts and where decisions are being made about their lives. Our helpline guides and directs children to suitable support. Our volunteers provide a trusted adult in a care-experienced child's life to walk along side them. We also campaign for systemic change, influencing policy to protect and promote children's right across the UK.
