Marking BOV’s upcoming 260th anniversary, Future Fund 260 aims to tackle inequality in access to the arts and cultivate a diverse and inclusive generation of artists. We intend to lay the foundations for a future where everyone, regardless of background, can experience the benefits of theatre.

Rising socio-economic challenges and the erosion of arts education in state schools mean young people in Bristol’s most disadvantaged areas are missing out on the transformational power of theatre. This deepens inequality and limits diversity in creative industries, which remain unrepresentative of wider society. With limited opportunities for emerging artists and access to the arts for young people declining, we are committed to breaking down barriers and creating lasting change.
We’re expanding our Engagement and Artist Development programmes at BOV to reach more young people facing financial and social disadvantage. By scaling up our outreach, we can offer greater access to creative experiences that build confidence and spark ambition. For those who discover a passion for theatre, we’ll develop clear, tangible pathways into the industry. As they take the next step toward a creative career, we’ll provide vital opportunities and make space for bold new voices to thrive.
