The move from early years settings to school is a crucial time for all children but for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) it can determine their long-term outcomes. Across the country children with SEND are being failed because they are not being given the information, support and resources to fully prepare them for the change of moving from nursery into a school environment. At Dingley’s Promise we are committed to ensuring that every child is given every opportunity to thrive and we have seen first hand the impact of investing in the transitions process.

Children across the country are being impacted by the many pressures on early education, staff are often time limited and resource is scarce meaning that children with SEND often do not get the tailored support to aid their journey from a nursery setting to a school environment. At Dingley’s Promise we ensure that every child experiences the transition process with full support for them and their family and in the knowledge that their future setting has everything possible in place to help them to thrive. But this addition input requires time and resource from our specialist staff thar we do not have the funding to deliver. Our Big Give campaign this year therefore is asking for your donations to ensure that as we grow our centres, every child can have this experience and be truly given every chance to succeed and fulfil their potential. Without this support many more children will be left behind their peers and face an uncertain future.
In early 2025, we launched the Transitions Support Programme in collaboration with Reading Local Authority, this has been a huge success and the money raised through this campaign will be directed in the same way to our other centres. By funding a specialist inclusion educator, our teams can liaise with partner schools, work in partnership with families, and tailored activities to children such as exploring new routines, sharing social stories and exploring activities which promote social connection, confidence and resilience. With your help we can transform the transitions experience and the long term outcomes of children with SEND.
