Young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are twice as likely to be not in education, employment or training (EET) than their better-off peers. The young people we work with face barriers to achieving successful education and employment transitions. They may be from low-income households, have special educational needs, mental health issues, or be from an ethnic minority and face discrimination. The common denominator is they are at risk of having bleak education and employment prospects.

Our programme uses sport & apprenticeships to help young people facing barriers, make long-term positive change in their lives. We want to place young people on community sport apprenticeships with employers where they gain a paid employment placement for 15 months, alongside wraparound mentoring support from a learning coach so they can go on to successful transitions in terms of education, employment and training. 77% gain an apprenticeship qualification (national average = 53%).
