We are raising funds to continue and expand our education and community work in Croydon and across London. Focussed on working in disadvantaged schools and under-served communities, we want to deliver orchestral music experiences for people who otherwise would be unable to participate or attend.

Not enough children in Croydon and across London have access to music education; Only 15% of state schools students receive sustained music tuition compared to 50% at independent schools. Research has found that 70% of children in music programmes report improvements in self-esteem, social skills and motivation, especially for children who face emotional and social challenges. Music provides a structured outlet for self-expression and focus, helping build social connections and resilience.

LMP will continue to deliver our work in areas, schools and communities facing deprivation or lack of opportunities. We will expand our Inspire programme in primary schools, provide training for teachers, addressing the national shortage of specialist music providers. We will expand our programme for secondary schools and mentor students in Side-by-Side concert performances. We will collaborate with communities to develop new works and showcases for public performance.
