Watershed is more than just a building; it’s an independent creative home for Bristol. For 40+ years, we’ve connected communities and nurtured talent, but we are facing challenging times. We need your support to ensure access to our cultural and inclusive venue for all, now and in the future.

Inflation, static public funding, exhaustion and rising costs of running cultural spaces mean that cultural organisations are suffering and closing across the UK. A recent survey found that almost a third of UK independent cinemas and mixed arts venues face closure within three to five years. In addition, rising rents and funding cuts making it harder for artists and our vibrant communities to fund affordable places to gather, work and showcase their creativity.

Watershed has a dynamic and mixed business model; we use commercial activity and fundraising to deliver accessible, inclusive cultural experiences to fire up the imagination. We gift free workspace to 200+ artists supporting their practise and growth. We’re more than a cultural venue; we’re a place where diverse voices and ideas can be shared to shape our future - a gathering place, bringing people together whether to watch films, engage in conversation over coffee or connect through creativity.
